I want to be honest about the hard part too.

“I know life isn’t simple. I know our families, traditions and religions may make this path difficult. I understand that. But I wanted to be honest about how I feel.”

I have nothing but respect for your faith, your family, and the values you were raised with. They are part of who you are, and I would never ask you to set any of them aside.

I’m aware that honesty doesn’t remove difficulty. Saying something true doesn’t make it simple, and I’m not pretending otherwise.

Whatever you decide, it will be the right decision, because it will be yours.

Respect isn’t something I offer in exchange for an answer. It stays either way.
